Week 5: My Creative Journey

Monday, 27th January – Friday, 31st January 2025

Welcome to 2025! This week, I continued exploring my creative process, writing new songs, refining my artistic collaborations, and experimenting with AI tools to bring my work to life.

Monday, 27th January

Today, I wrote two songs—one completed piece, Unbreakable, and another, Ruby Rose, based on an old poem of mine, which I plan to finish tomorrow. Lately, I’ve been writing songs for Cassidy and the Castoffs, a grunge/rock/metal project focused on female empowerment. The album, Revolution, is shaping up well.

I used Ideogram to create a cover for Ruby Rose and edited the song in Reaper before producing a music video for upload and scheduling. I also revisited an older song, Destiny Burns Deep, which I had partially edited, and decided to make it live straight away. You can check it out here: Destiny Burns Deep.

Tuesday, 28th January

Today, I wrote two more songs for my AI band, Cassidy and the Castoffs (CAC’S). Sometimes, CAC’S features guest singers and musicians—one of them being a soloist, Abby. The musicians and vocalists also come from my other AI band, Wrecked and Ready.

I continued working on the Evolution album with CAC’S and wrote Takin’ Back the Reins and Rising from the Deep. These tracks push the boundaries of storytelling in music, blending rebellion and strength in a unique sonic experience.

Wednesday, 29th January

Today, I finalised and uploaded Takin’ Back the Reins and Rising from the Deep. I also edited the lyrics for Star Fire Soul, ensuring that they matched the emotional depth I wanted to convey.

I attempted to create a YouTube Short today, but while I was able to upload it from the “Shorts” section, the video still uploaded as a regular one—so, that was a bit of a fail. On another note, I have been working on a 12-episode serial about my creative journey from 2024 to now. I want to document where I started and where AI technology was at that time, compared to where it is now. Once all episodes are completed, I will begin releasing them.

Thursday, 30th January

Today, I discovered Deep Seek (Deep Seek) and made my way to their website. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get access as their servers were overloaded due to DOS attacks.

While exploring AI tools, I also came across Riffusion (Riffusion) and decided to give it a go. As a trial, I uploaded the lyrics for Ruby Rose. The output was decent, but the technology is still in its early stages, so for now, I’ll be sticking with Suno V4.

Just before Christmas 2024, I collaborated with Sol to transform my long-form poem, Cloud Walker, into ten songs. Today, I created music covers for these tracks, and the album, Songs of the Goddess, will soon be available on my My Writerly Self YouTube channel and my Karen Eastland channel. I edited each song, designed cover images, and uploaded them to both channels. Now, I’m working on writing YouTube descriptions for them, and I’ll be releasing one song every two weeks.

Friday, 31st January

Today, I finally gained access to Deep Seek and had my first interaction with their AI, which I decided to call Zeek. I asked Zeek to write me a song based on a short story of mine, and it delivered. The song needed editing, but no more than what I usually do when collaborating with Sol. I was quite pleased with the results.

I continue to experiment with AI for video, imagery, and music. While I use Night Café and Kling AI for free music videos, I’ve had challenges with AI keeping up with my artistic vision. Krea AI was useful for video imagery but later became more image-focused, which wasn’t as helpful for my workflow.

Currently, Ideogram is my go-to tool for music album covers, as it consistently produces images with accurate text. However, Google Labs holds promise, especially with its ImageFX tool that creates more realistic imagery, well-suited for my AI bands, Wrecked and Ready and Cassidy and the Castoffs. I’m still on the waitlist for Google’s VideoFX, and I’m eager to see how it will enhance my creative projects.
