Biography of Karen Eastland

Hi, I’m Karen Eastland, an author, creative artist, and Master of Letters in Creative Writing. My specialty is urban fantasy, where I blend the mystical with the everyday, exploring themes of darkness, humor, and humanity. My passion for storytelling began early, and today, I’m proud to share a diverse range of creative work that includes novels, poetry, podcasts, and more.

I like to describe myself as a "pantser"—someone who writes by the seat of their pants, letting the story reveal itself as I go, without rigid plotting. It’s an approach that keeps me excited about the process and helps me stay connected to my characters and narrative. During my Master's, I created a rich fantasy universe that has continued to evolve and grow, forming the basis for most of my stories today.

Besides my novels, I also craft The Adventures of Millie and Sandra, a quirky episodic serial, and express my creativity through poetry and mixed media work. My projects include series like "Life Tales of The Feminine" and "Life is the Darkness", where I explore personal themes that reflect on the human experience.

My creative journey also includes a foray into music, where I channel my passion for storytelling through lyrical expression. My music work can be found at music.kareneastland.id.au. Whether it’s through written words, lyrics, or spoken narratives, my goal is always to evoke genuine emotion and thought.

Throughout my career, I’ve received the academic honour of being invited to become a member of the Golden Key Asia Pacific. I find joy in using creative expression and to to share my journey with others through multiple channels, including Writing Urban and Reachville News.
