My Creative Journey (Dec 2–6, 2024)

This week has been a whirlwind of creativity and emotion for me. As a Tasmanian author, songwriter, and mixed media artist, I’ve poured my heart into crafting original Australian Christmas songs, with significant support from my AI assistant, Sol. While I write all my material, I welcome Sol’s creative input, especially for festive projects, and together we’ve accomplished a lot.

Despite some challenging personal news, I’ve stayed focused on my work. One of the highlights of my week was completing a collection of Christmas songs for both adults and children. These include tracks like "Suburban Dream," "Outback Sunrise," and "Santa’s Roo-Led Sleigh," each celebrating uniquely Australian themes. Whether it’s the vibrant energy of suburban life or Santa’s kangaroo-led adventures, these songs reflect my love for storytelling and Australian culture.

I’ve relied on various tools to bring my ideas to life. I edited song descriptions, created album covers using Ideogram, and finalized the music and vocals with Suno V4. Even though this week was tough, I managed to stick to my ambitious schedule of releasing a Christmas song every day until the 25th, alongside love songs every five days.

On the personal side, I received some unsettling medical news that required me to schedule tests in Hobart. My anxiety has been high, but I’m thankful I could finish my Christmas songs as planned. Unfortunately, this news means I won’t be able to release the full four-season paperback edition of The Adventures of Millie and Sandra in time for Christmas. I’m uncertain about what the next few weeks will bring, but I’m taking things one step at a time.

In addition to my creative projects, I’ve been updating my journal for my weekly podcast and preparing an article summarizing this week’s work for my website. I’ve also used Ideogram to create images for both my journal and the article, which has added a nice visual touch to my work. Through all of this, I’m finding strength in my creative process and the support of my tools—both traditional and digital.
